Delicious and Halal Kimchi Jjigae Recipe

Kimchi Jjigae (Kimchi Stew) is one of Korea’s most beloved comfort foods, known for its rich, spicy, and deep flavors. This dish is a great way to enjoy the bold taste of fermented kimchi while warming up on a chilly day. For our Muslim friends, we’ve crafted a halal version so that everyone can enjoy this authentic Korean delight.

Ingredients (Serves 2-3)

- 500g Kimchi (Ensure it is halal-certified),

- 150-200g Beef,

- 3 tablespoons Fish Sauce,

- 1 small-sized Onion,

- 1 tablespoon Red Pepper Powder,

- 1 tablespoon Minced Garlic,

- 1 Spicy Chili Pepper (Optional),

- Green Onion (Optional)

How to Make Halal Kimchi Jjigae

1. Slice the beef into bite-sized pieces. In a pot, cook the meat over low heat until it is lightly browned and releases its flavor.

2. While the meat is cooking, cut the kimchi into bite-sized pieces. Once the meat is slightly cooked, add the kimchi and stir-fry for about 3 minutes. This process enhances the flavor by allowing the kimchi and beef to blend well.

3. Add 1 tablespoon of red pepper powder and 1 tablespoon of minced garlic. Stir well to evenly distribute the seasoning.

4. Pour enough water to cover all the ingredients. Bring the stew to a medium boil. If the water reduces too much while boiling, you can add more.

5. Dice the onion and add it to the pot once the water starts boiling. Let it simmer for about 10 minutes to bring out the sweetness of the onion.

6. After 10 minutes, pour in 3 tablespoons of fish sauce. Stir well and let it cook for another 3 minutes.

7. Slice some chili peppers and green onions, then add them to the stew for an extra kick of flavor. This step is optional but enhances the dish beautifully!

Serve your halal kimchi jjigae with a bowl of steaming rice and some Korean side dishes (banchan).

This dish is best enjoyed hot and is perfect for sharing with friends and family! Try it today and bring a taste of Korea to your home.
