Kakao T works without a korean card, just pay the driver

sharing this because i worried about it a lot before my trip. kakao t lets you switch to english in the settings and you can sign up with a foreign number, but i could not register my overseas card inside the app. it still works, you just choose to pay the driver directly and then use card, cash or t-money at the end of the ride. one thing at the airport, check that the plate number on the app matches the car before you get in, there are many cars waiting at arrivals and it gets confusing fast. if someone walks up to you in the arrival hall offering a fixed price, just go to the taxi stand instead.
